As a Research Engineer, you will:
* Contribute to the commercialisation of Perpetual Pigments by conducting experiments and completing project milestones with the research team.
* Collaborate with industry partners like Rip Curl and Textile Recyclers Australia, including on-site visits for formulation development.
* Analyse experimental data, prepare reports, and present findings to the project team and external stakeholders.
* Help generate innovative, commercially viable pigment-based product solutions and assess their applications and intellectual property potential.
* Engage with a vibrant research team at the Institute for Frontier Materials, building partnerships with industry and the wider community.
To be successful, you'll have:
* Honours or higher degree in textile technology, chemical engineering, materials science, chemistry or a related discipline, with a passion for applied research.
* Hands-on experience in colour measurement, matching, pigment printing, dyeing, and ink/paint formulation, especially with colour and fastness characterisation.
* Strong background in material characterisation techniques, with the ability to design test standards, analyse data, and generate practical solutions.
* Proven ability to work effectively both independently and within interdisciplinary teams, including collaborating with industry and research partners.
* Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated commitment to high-quality lab practice and research reporting.
