Central Highlands Regional Council is looking for an experienced and passionate Manager Safety to lead the delivery of our strategic safety vision across the organisation. Reporting directly to the General Manager People Safety & Legal, this is a pivotal leadership position driving our commitment to “Safety First” across our diverse and dynamic workforce.
As Our Manager Safety, You Will:

* Be a strategic partner to Council’s executive, offering trusted, expert advice on all safety-related matters.
* Lead the implementation and ongoing development of an effective and modern safety management system aligned with best practice and legislative requirements.
* Champion the organisation-wide Safety First Project, ensuring our safety systems are simplified, user-friendly and embedded into everyday operations.
* Inspire a proactive safety culture by introducing meaningful safety targets and training, with a focus on both leading and lagging indicators.
* Support and coach people leaders to build safety confidence and competence throughout the organisation.

What We’re Looking For:
* Proven senior leadership experience in a Workplace Health and Safety leadership role.
* Critical understanding of Work Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
* A collaborative and strategic mindset with the ability to influence at all levels – from the frontline to the executive.
* Demonstrated knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management, and Codes of Practice.
* Experience designing and implementing contemporary safety initiatives that drive real behavioural change.
* Bachelor of Occupational Health and Safety (or similar) and/or certificate IV WHS (or similar)
* Minimum of Queensland C class provisional driver’s licence.
