Behaviour Support Specialist - Primary School
The Behaviour Support Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring the effective day-to-day leadership of the primary school. This position works closely with staff, students, and families to foster a safe and respectful learning environment.
This key role involves providing high-level support to the Head of Primary in implementing the school's strategic vision. As a key liaison between the Head of Primary and teaching staff, the Behaviour Support Specialist ensures smooth communication and follow-through.
Main Responsibilities:
* Implement the school's behaviour curriculum, promoting consistency across all primary years.
* Respond promptly to escalated student behaviour incidents (Level 2+), working collaboratively with the Welfare Team as needed.
* Support students requiring additional pastoral care or behaviour intervention, coordinating with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely and effective action.
* Maintain alignment with the school's Strategic Plan, contributing to planning, review, and implementation processes.
Operational Oversight:
Assist with the coordination of daily logistics, including:
* Staffing adjustments and scheduling.
* Event planning and management.
* Timetable-based adjustments and supervision needs.
Leadership of Student Wellbeing:
* Oversee the implementation of trauma-informed practices, ensuring a positive culture that supports student wellbeing.
* Foster proactive partnerships with families to promote student growth and responsibility.
* Lead parent education on key wellbeing themes, focusing on restorative conversations and conflict resolution strategies.
Professional Development and Coaching:
* Provide coaching and modelling for teachers and learning assistants on behaviour management, trauma-informed practice, and positive culture-building.
* Support new and early-career teachers in understanding and applying the school's behavioural expectations.
Liaison and Communication:
* Work closely with Chaplains, staff, and families to coordinate pastoral care and respond to student welfare emergencies.
* Communicate clearly and respectfully with parents around Level 2+ behaviour concerns and outcomes.
