About the RoleIn this leadership position (Position of Responsibility), you will drive the vision and day-to-day delivery of the Chinese language across the Middle and Senior Schools, where our broad range of Chinese language programs cater for our diverse first language, background language, and second language learners of Chinese.
Working closely with the Head of Languages, you’ll foster high-quality teaching, authentic cultural engagement, and clear pathways for student success across:Australian Curriculum (First Language background and Second Language Pathways);SACE (Continuers and Background Chinese); andIB Diploma program Chinese A and Chinese B
Key Responsibilities Include:Lead curriculum design and assessment across our Chinese FL/BL/SL pathways (AC, SACE, IB A & B).Guide student placement and eligibility for SACE & IB Chinese; communicate pathways with families.Mentor and induct staff; promote innovative pedagogy; coordinate conversation assistants/volunteers.Curate resources and platforms (Trove, booklists); manage reporting and Accelerus setup.Plan cultural programs, excursions/incursions; lead the coordination of exchanges and study tours.Promote Languages across campuses and support events, planning and annual reporting.
About YouYou are a highly competent educator and fluent Mandarin speaker who brings vision, warmth, and organisational acumen. You build positive teams, communicate with clarity, and thrive in a dynamic school environment. You balance strategic leadership with hands-on teaching and model continuous improvement and intercultural understanding.
You will bring:Deep expertise in Languages curriculum leadership and innovation; proven capacity to enthuse students.Excellent Mandarin (spoken and written) and high-quality classroom practice.Strong people leadership, including mentoring, induction, and collaborative team culture.Clear, professional communication with staff, students, and parents; stakeholder management.Robust administration and deadline management; digital fluency for multiple systems.Tertiary qualifications in education with a specialisation in Mandarin Chinese, and registration with the TRB SA.
