Dealership Accountant / Financial Controller
Automotive Dealership | North Brisbane Region
Our client is seeking an experienced Dealership Accountant / Financial Controller to join their well-established major-franchise dealership in Brisbane's northern suburbs.
This is a hands‐on role suited to someone who enjoys being embedded within the day‐to‐day operations of a dealership, rather than operating in a purely strategic corporate finance environment.
Working closely with dealership leadership and existing senior finance personnel during a transition period, you will oversee financial operations, OEM reporting requirements, transactional finance functions, and dealership compliance processes.
Key Responsibilities
Financial & Dealership Accounting
* Manage daily dealership accounting operations
* Prepare and oversee monthly financial reporting
* Complete OEM/manufacturer reporting and submissions
* Assist with month‐end and year‐end accounting processes
* Maintain general ledger integrity and reconciliations
* Ensure compliance with dealership accounting standards and controls
* Assist with BAS preparation and related compliance functions
Operational Finance Oversight
* Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
* Oversee payroll processes and transactional finance activities
* Support dealership cash flow management and performance monitoring
* Liaise with external accountants and relevant stakeholders
Team & Business Support
* Work collaboratively with existing finance staff during transition
* Mentor and support junior finance team members
* Provide dealership leadership with financial insights and operational reporting
* Maintain efficient and practical finance processes across the business
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
* Previous automotive dealership accounting experience
* Strong understanding of dealership financial reporting and controls
* Experience with OEM/manufacturer reporting requirements
* Practical, hands‐on operational accounting capability
* Ability to work autonomously within a dealership environment
* Strong attention to detail and reliable work history
Experience supervising smaller finance teams and exposure to dealership management systems will be highly regarded.
