About the Role
The Salvation Army's Moneycare service is seeking a skilled and compassionate Financial Counsellor to join the team in Karratha. This role provides high-quality financial counselling to individuals experiencing financial difficulty or hardship, supporting them to build financial resilience, improve wellbeing and navigate complex financial systems.
Working within a relational, community-centred model, the Financial Counsellor delivers casework, advocacy, education and ongoing assessment. The role also provides mentorship to Financial Capability Workers and contributes to continuous improvement, service development and community engagement.

How You Will Make an Impact
* Provide financial counselling to community members experiencing financial hardship or seeking to prevent financial difficulty
* Build strong, respectful relationships that promote self-determination and participation
* Develop holistic, community-member-centred case plans aligned with TSA's Practice Framework
* Conduct ongoing assessments and maintain accurate, timely case notes and data in SAMIS
* Advocate on behalf of community members with creditors, service providers and external agencies
* Support community members to access services, strengthen community connections and build financial resilience
* Mentor and support Financial Capability Workers
* Identify risks, service gaps and opportunities for service improvement
* Participate in team meetings, supervision, professional development and quality improvement processes
* Contribute to a positive, collaborative and culturally safe workplace
What You Will Bring
* Hold the Diploma of Financial Counselling and accreditation, or be currently completing the Diploma and progressing toward accreditation
* Experience working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds, including those for whom English is not a first language
* Knowledge of local Aboriginal communities and culture (or willingness to learn)
* Strong money management, negotiation and advocacy skills
* Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
* Experience supporting people experiencing crisis or complex challenges
* High-level communication skills, including written, verbal and digital
* A current driver's licence
