Located 200km south-east of Geraldton, Western Australia, Karara is the largest mining operation and the first major magnetite mine in the Mid-West. The opportunity
We're looking for a Senior Electrical Technician to join our on-site team. In this role, you will lead the development and execution of improvement initiatives focused on the plant's electrical and instrumentation systems. You will also ensure that all operations meet site standards for quality and safety.
This role operates on an 8 days on and 6 days off roster with the occasional ad hoc night shift.
To be successful in this role, you must have the following:
* WA "A" grade Electrical Licence
* HV switching operations certificate
* Certificate IV Electrical Instrumentation
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in a process plant environment providing practical and sustainable solutions
* Proven experience in electrical instrumentation, control systems and HV switching
* Proficient experience using Microsoft Office Suite, SAP and CMMS
* Proven ability to plan work in line with operational requirements and emerging priorities
* National Police clearance

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Deliver planned and unplanned electrical maintenance tasks and projects
* Collaborate with the team to achieve best-practice outcomes and maintain strong stakeholder relationships
* Report on issues, risks, opportunities, technical deviations, and performance
* Share technical knowledge to support team development and upskilling
* Lead complex breakdowns, fault-finding, and continuous improvement initiatives
* Support reliability improvements and assist in reducing downtime with the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor
* Assist with workload planning to maintain schedule compliance
* Mentor E&I technicians and support instrumentation failure investigations and reporting
* Perform repair and calibration of industrial instrumentation
* Conduct pre-start inspections and ensure equipment safety
* Scope jobs, review plans, identify resources, and complete risk assessments before work execution
* Raise and manage SAP maintenance notifications
* Complete required safety documentation (Take 5, JHA, permits)
* Support outage execution by tracking progress and updating stakeholders
* Manage in-house Electrical and Instrumentation projects
