Are you a Senior Underwriter with credit & political risk experience excited to join an established, yet growing, product line as the market-facing representation in Australia?

Key responsibilities
You will independently contribute to the growth and profitability of the credit and political risk specialty product lines (FRS) through marketing, underwriting and managing complex risks that arise from credit exposures and political uncertainties.
These risks may require special handling due to country risk, sovereign risk, non-payment, or political events such as expropriation, currency inconvertibility, or political violence. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Establish and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and risk managers specializing in credit and political risk to facilitate the marketing, sale, and training of Liberty's credit and political risk products.
* Review, analyze, rate, and underwrite new and renewal credit and political risk business, ensuring adherence to Liberty's underwriting guidelines, risk appetite, and pricing standards.
* Assess sovereign and commercial risks including country risk, counterparty credit risk, payment and performance risk, and political event risk.
* Execute strategic negotiation and selling strategies tailored to credit and political risk markets to ensure portfolio growth and profitability.
* Provide high levels of service to brokers and clients, differentiating Liberty in the credit and political risk marketplace.
* Collaborate with other underwriters across product lines to leverage cross-selling opportunities and provide comprehensive solutions to clients.
* Monitor premium payments, investigate discrepancies, and liaise with Finance to resolve payment issues.
* Proactively manage and grow the credit and political risk portfolio by monitoring exposures, limits, and risk concentrations.
* Mentor and train junior underwriters and assistants in credit and political risk underwriting practices and product knowledge.
* Contribute to product development and marketing plans through competitor analysis, market research, and identification of emerging credit and political risk trends.
* Review and negotiate policy terms, wordings, endorsements, and conditions specific to credit and political risk insurance policies.
About you
* Advanced technical underwriting skills in credit and political risk insurance.
* Highly proficient relationship building and influencing skills within the credit and political risk marketplace.
* Strong analytical capabilities in assessing credit risk exposure, country risk, and political risk.
* Extensive negotiation and selling skills specialized for credit and political risk products.
* Excellent decision-making skills underpinned by thorough risk analysis.
* Proven ability to manage and grow profitable portfolios of credit and political risk business.
* Significant prior experience in underwriting credit and political risk insurance or related specialty insurance products.
* In-depth knowledge of international trade finance, sovereign and commercial credit risks, political risk factors, and related legal and regulatory frameworks.
* Experience working with brokers and insurers in credit and political risk markets.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and underwriting management systems.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance, economics, risk management, or insurance preferred.
