Award-winning technology publication iTnews is seeking a driven and experienced journalist to step into the role of Associate Editor.
This is a career-defining opportunity to help shape the news agenda of one of Australia's most successful enterprise IT publications, reporting directly to the Editor-in-Chief. The role comes with significant potential for growth across Nextmedia. Nextmedia is part of Forum Media Group, headquartered in Germany with more than 1,200 employees across Europe, Asia, North America and Australia.
Role overview
As Associate Editor, you will help lead the iTnews editorial team in setting and delivering the daily news agenda, focusing on enterprise end-user IT: how large organisations select, implement, and manage technology.
We are looking for a sharp, inquisitive journalist with a strong foundation in business reporting and a hunger for original stories that uncover how technology is reshaping Australia's enterprise landscape.
At least five years' experience in business, technology, B2B, or related journalism in Australia is preferred.
Key responsibilities
As Associate Editor, you will:
* Report and edit original news stories and in-depth features on enterprise technology and business strategy.
* Host multimedia formats, including podcasts, videos and live roundtables.
* Moderate panels at industry conferences and represent iTnews on stage at major events and awards evenings.
* Coach and mentor at least one member of staff, setting high editorial standards and supporting professional growth.
* Cultivate sources and relationships across Australia's corporate IT and business communities.
* Conduct interviews with CIOs, CTOs, and other technology decision-makers, as well as C-suite executives in HR, finance, and marketing for our digital publication Digital Nation.
* Work strategically with the advertising team to align editorial and commercial opportunities.
* Deliver clean, engaging copy to deadline, consistently meeting a high editorial bar.
The right candidate
This role suits a journalist who is naturally curious, confident asking tough questions, and excited about connecting technology to real-world business outcomes. You'll be comfortable both behind the keyboard and in front of an audience, with opportunities for international travel to cover global technology events.
