Overview
The Senior Manager of Information Technology provides strategic and operational leadership for the IT function, ensuring reliable, secure, and cutting-edge technology solutions that enable business growth. This role oversees the daily operations of the IT department while working with leadership to align long-term technology strategy with organizational objectives.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Direct management of IT Support Technicians, Network Operations Manager, and other designated IT staff.
- Provides leadership, coaching, and career development to team members.
Essential Responsibilities
- Oversees the daily operation of IT infrastructure, including on-premises and cloud environments, servers, backups, networking, and telecom systems (VoIP, mobile, wireless).
- Manages enterprise platforms including Microsoft 365, SaaS applications, CAD/design software, and other business systems.
- Ensures IT security across all locations, including cybersecurity enforcement, security devices, and training programs.
- Partners with the VP of IT to develop, implement, and maintain IT governance policies, SOPs, and compliance frameworks.
- Partners with the VP of IT to plan, manage, and execute the IT capital budget; ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
- Partners with the VP of IT to negotiates and manage vendor and consultant relationships to maximize value and expertise.
- Collaborates with business stakeholders to ensure IT services and systems meet operational and strategic requirements.
- Researches and evaluates emerging technologies, recommending innovative solutions that drive business efficiency and competitiveness.
- Defines and monitors IT performance KPIs, including system uptime, service levels, and security posture. Reports progress and risk to VP of IT.
- Aligns IT strategy with organizational objectives, ensuring technology supports growth, operational efficiency, and competitive advantage.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Proven leadership and project/vendor management skills.
- Strong technical knowledge of Windows OS, Windows Server, LAN/WAN, Microsoft 365, and SaaS applications (Microsoft certifications a plus).
- Working knowledge of the OSI model and IT security principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to bridge business and technical needs.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize high-value initiatives and deliver measurable results.
- Ability to prioritize strategic initiatives and balance competing demands in a multi-location environment.
- Knowledge of IT governance, risk management, and compliance best practices.
- Strong project and vendor management expertise with demonstrated success in delivering enterprise technology initiatives.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 10+ years of progressive IT experience, including leadership roles; experience in a multi-location manufacturing environment strongly .
- Proven track record of implementing IT solutions that enhance business operations.
- Ability to travel up to 20% to company locations.
Physical Requirements
- Work performed primarily in an office environment with occasional visits to plant facilities.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. and perform basic physical activities when required at field sites.
