About the role:
Based at Eagle Farm and reporting directly to the Human Resources Manager, the Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing all payroll functions for the organisation. This role is focused on ensuring payroll is managed with precision and timeliness, maintaining compliance with relevant Australian legislation, Awards and company policies. The Payroll Manager will collaborate closely with HR and other departments to process payroll data, handle employee queries, and support the broader HR team's day-to-day operations.
What you will need to do:
* Manage the end-to-end payroll processing for 600+ people on weekly and monthly basis
* Ensure accurate processing of employee salaries, leave balances, deductions, and other payroll related transactions.
* Maintenance of employee records, including entering new & updating existing employee's data into the payroll system
* Ensure all employee documentation is collected, returned, and accurately filed on the personnel file in a timely manner.
* Generate and analyse payroll reports from iChris for management reporting and audits
* Assist with ad-hoc reporting for the HR team
* Completion of statutory payments such as superannuation, state payroll taxes, Workcover and other statutory reporting to the ABS and ATO
* Maintain current award updates and payroll adjustments in iChris
* Interpret employment agreements, industrial awards, review timesheets, manage termination payments and Single Touch Payroll (STP) lodgement
* Manage and complete all end of month (EOM) and end of year (EOY) reports and reconciliations
* Respond to all payroll enquiries and provide advice to managers and employees relating to their payroll and entitlements
* Liaise with external auditors, assisting as necessary and providing required information
* Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency in iChris
* Ensure payroll procedures are documented and kept up to date
* Work closely with HR, finance and other departments to resolve payroll-related inquiries, and ensure alignment on payroll matters
* Provide training and support to staff regarding payroll processes and the iChris system as needed.
* Ensure a high level of confidentiality and discretion is always exercised
* Other duties as required.
About you:
* You are highly motivated, organised and outcome orientated
* You will have 5+ years working in a high-volume payroll environment
* Demonstrated experience in interpretation of Awards and payroll legislation
* You will have 3+ years working in and managing iChris
* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
* Experience completing superannuation, EOM and EOY reconciliations
* Exceptional communication skills and a consultative approach
* Microscopic attention to detail
* Prioritising and meeting deadlines will be a cinch for you
* You will enjoy analysing problems and finding solutions to complex issues
