Merrylands East Public School is in South Western Sydney with an enrolment of 323 students, The majority of students come from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds with 89% speaking English as an additional language or dialect. The school integrates students with high complex needs, and provides wrap around support for families.
Merrylands East Public School has an emphasis on Literacy and Numeracy across the curriculum. Students are supported to reach their success criteria by a dedicated and committed staff, who continually strive to improve their pedagogy and practice through engagement in continuous qualified learning. Staff and students are supported by an APCI and use evidence to inform practice in a whole school assessment paradigm.
Merrylands East students' wellbeing programs are supported by community partnerships and external health professionals.
The EAL/D position will provide explicit English language program to help students develop their literacy and English language skills across the curriculum, and by working alongside grades / stages in a collaborative team teaching and small group.
The school hours for students are from 8:00am to 1:15pm Monday to Friday.
**Selection Criteria**: 
Approval to teach primary English as a Second Language or currently completing or currently enrolled in an approved post graduate qualification for teaching English as a Second Language (primary/secondary, whichever is applicable) as recognised by the NSW Department of Education.
Willingness and experience teaching Visual Arts.
Use of ESL Scales, EAL/D learning progressions and a range of assessment strategies to analyse evidence to inform student learning.
High levels of interpersonal and communication skills for team teaching and to engage professionally with colleagues and the wider culturally diverse school community.

If applicable engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the approved post graduate qualification for teaching English as a Second Language (primary or secondary) as recognised by the NSW Department of Education, which must be completed within 12 months.
