The Role
As a Senior Application Services Engineer, you will be part of a global support team managing products and applications worldwide. You will work closely with development and architecture teams to consolidate and replace caching systems and message brokers while centralizing logging across the globe. You will play a critical role in strengthening the product lifecycle by ensuring robust application layers and system reliability across over 450 products and more than 42 business units.
What You'll Do
- Provide L3 support experience in leading 24x7 on‐call support for highly critical customer‐facing applications with deep technical troubleshooting and permanent fix follow‐up.
- Support a broad range of technologies including Windows/Linux, multi‐tier web applications, middleware (web/app servers, containers, message queues, databases, networking).
- Effectively deploy applications by building automation suites (GitHub, Ansible, semaphore, etc.).
- Install, configure, and tune middleware applications (sFTP, Apache, Tomcat, IIS, Redis, RabbitMQ, Graylog, Kafka, IBM‐MQ).
- Set up monitoring at all layers of the application stack and resolve alerts quickly using NewRelic.
- Tune application performance, triage outages, and implement short‐term/long‐term fixes.
- Work closely with development/architecture to replace and reduce infrastructure footprint and cost by migrating to on‐premise data centers.
- Improve architectures by enhancing application design, redundancy, and legacy system integration.
- Centralize logging in production environments using Graylog.
- Maintain up‐to‐date design, infrastructure, processes, and operational documentation.
- Automate repetitive tasks and streamline processes to reduce outages and deliver quick results.
- Use Public & Private Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) and on‐prem VMware virtualized environments.
- Apply basic networking knowledge (F5, HAProxy).
- Own bodies of work using the Atlassian stack.
What you will bring
- 5+ years of relevant experience in application services and infrastructure.
- Strong communication skills to hold technical conversations in English and guide problem‐solving processes.
- Excellent critical‐thinking and problem‐solving skills for navigating unfamiliar situations.
- Experience in Windows and Linux environments with protocols and tools such as HTTP, HTTPS, TLS, TCP, UDP, SMTP, ICMP, FTP, sFTP, SSH, RDP, VPN, Jumphost, DHCP, Active Directory.
- Proficiency with web servers (F5, HAProxy, Apache, Nginx, IIS, Websphere, Git). Familiarity with VMware.
- Experience setting up proactive monitoring systems to prevent recurring outages.
- Understanding of Application SDLC and participation in on‐call support rotations.
- Bonus: Knowledge of source control management and CI/CD automation (Ansible).
- Intellectual curiosity and a can‐do attitude; eager to contribute, clarify chaos, and engage with outages and projects.
- Bonus Points: Hands‐on experience with message broker technologies such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, IBM‐MQ, ActiveMQ, Tibco, MSMQ, RedHat AMQ, SQS, Redis, Graylog, LDAP, AWS, Azure, VMware, fluent Spanish.
