About This Job
Yass High School is an inclusive, comprehensive and growing school close to Canberra with an enrolment of 565 and 11% Aboriginal students. The school offers a broad curriculum with post-school opportunities in academic, technological, vocational and creative fields. It has a STEM building (2021) and a new school hall (2023) to support 21st century learning technologies. The school uses a Trade Centre for vocational courses (Metals, Timber, Hospitality) and an Agriculture farm for animal management and horticulture. The Support Unit includes three Learning Hub classes and a SLC (Supported Learning Centre). The school also runs a Stage 5 pathways program to support workforce transitions. The culture emphasizes high expectations and wellbeing to guide course selection and student development.

Responsibilities and Selection Criteria
* Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with Mild Intellectual Disability.
* Ability to create a positive learning environment through effective classroom management and student wellbeing initiatives.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, carers, support staff, and the wider community.
* Ability to design and teach quality, differentiated educational programs and develop Personalised Learning Support Plans and Behaviour Management Plans for students with diverse learning needs, maintaining high expectations in a multistage setting.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is required. If you do not hold full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you must commence the application process concurrently with this opportunity.
Relocation Support Payment: $5,000 to $8,000 for eligible applicants.
Recruitment Bonus: Up to $20,000 (conditions apply). The bonus is paid pro rata for permanent part-time teachers and limited to a maximum of $20,000 for a position, including any job share arrangements.

Applicants seeking either permanent full-time or permanent part-time employment are encouraged to apply. If offered permanent part-time at a partial FTE, the appointment will be at the desired FTE.
