THE ROLE The Electricity Market Modeller will be responsible for developing and maintaining sophisticated models that simulate electricity market operations, including supply and demand dynamics, pricing mechanisms, and policy impacts. This requires analyzing market trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements to assess their effects on electricity markets. You will be proficient with tools such as PLEXOS, PROMOD, or similar platforms to conduct scenario analyses and forecast market outcomes. An element of the position involves collecting, validating and managing large datasets related to electricity generation, consumption, transmission, and market transactions to ensure accurate and reliable analysis. You will also perform quantitative analyses to support decision-making processes, including risk assessments and investment evaluations. To effectively communicate complex modelling results, you will develop and implement data visualization techniques and prepare comprehensive reports and presentations that outline modelling methodologies, assumptions and findings in a clear and accessible manner. A collaborative approach is required as you work closely with cross-functional teams to provide insights that inform strategic planning and policy development.
