The purpose of the Category Manager is to oversee and develop strategies to enable consumer centric category and brand growth that are aligned to ghd ANZ brand and business objectives for their allocated categories.
JOB ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy and Category Management 45 %
* oversee the entire performance and strategy of a product category or multiple categories (e.g., Stylers, Dryers, Curlers, Wet to Dry etc.)
* provide input to annual strategic planning and quarterly re-forecasting to support the local business strategy
* analyse sales data, consumer insights, and market trends to optimize product mix and pricing
* analyse market pricing & conduct price modelling to inform recommendations for New Product Developments and ghd portfolio
monitor and analyse performance in real time, to identify opportunities and risks vs plan and recommend action to course correct as necessary
* generate weekly & monthly reporting to ensure category & campaign is delivering against KPI's
* manage category A&CP budget
* responsible for identifying customer and consumer targets within the category and educating internal teams on the opportunities for targeting.
* collaborate with cross functional teams to secure 360-support across channels to drive category performance in line with the category strategy and objective and A&CP budget goals
* accountability and ownership of delivering category profitability, growth, and alignment within the company's broader marketing strategy
* work closely with the Senior Marketing Manager to upskill commercial and marketing teams ensuring that there is understanding of category targets for always on activations, promotions and new product launches.
* work with commercial and customer teams to make distribution, ranging and differentiation plans, to reinforce strategic recommendations
* work closely with the Senior Marketing Manager to forecast strategies for demand and size the opportunity for the category
* keep abreast of consumer trends in the market via data sources and understanding of competitor landscape
Campaign Management 40%
* plan, manage and activate all primary marketing promotional campaigns and launches for the relevant categories in line with global and local requirements and the marketing activity calendar, to achieve overall business objectives.
* evaluation of all promotional campaigns and launches, during and after activation; identify and recommend corrective action as necessary during campaigns
* manage all elements of the project plan to deliver campaigns and NPD launches on time and within budget
* liaise with Supply Chain about daily operational issues to ensure that the campaign launches are timeous and consumer/sales stock allocations are achieved
* oversee the co-ordination of localising global campaign materials and initiatives for programs not developed in conjunction with global
* oversee and input into the marketing communications and content briefs alongside cross functional teams for each campaign activation
* work cross functionally to ensure effective planning and execution of marketing campaigns
* approval of all new packaging designs and updates through robohead (internal ghd approval portal) on time as required
* work closely with Trade, Retail and Salon Team to plan and ensure Point of Sale (POS) meets brand and campaign creative
Brand Ownership 15%
* Bbrand custodian and champion for ANZ, ensuring all creative & communications across all channels are aligned with global brand direction
* ensure premium and consistent execution of the ghd brand at every touchpoint
* drive initiatives to further establish ghd a thought leader in the anz market
* develop a deep understanding of ghd's core consumer and how to leverage the different marketing communications channels
Other
* local market and international travel, as necessitated by the activity calendar
* instore visits conducted as needed
* ad hoc global WIP and strategy calls (UK time)
* co support Jnr Category Manager, upskilling & ongoing training as required
* other tasks and support requested by the Head of Marketing, and Senior Marketing Manager to assist and integrate with the ghd marketing team
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Experience
qualifications
* Minimum 3 years' experience in Hair/Beauty/Fashion/Luxury marketing or Knowledge of Fashion and premium brand behaviour. Ideally from a personal care, FMCG background
* Exceptional P&L and Commercial acumen.
* Deep understanding of category management and market dynamics.
* Strong analytical and data interpretation skills to drive category performance.
* Expertise in category management, pricing & promotional strategies, and retail optimization.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work across multiple teams and external facing customers.
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in marketing
