Project Officer – Civil Projects (Casual Contract)
35 hours per week | Monday to Friday
On behalf of a local government organisation, we are seeking an experienced Project Officer to join their Civil Projects team on a temporary full-time basis. This is an opportunity for a civil construction professional who enjoys leading from the front, managing contractors, overseeing capital works delivery and ensuring quality, safety and compliance across a diverse road network.
About the Role
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will assist in delivering construction and maintenance activities across the organisation's State, Regional and Local road network.
* Deliver Capital Works construction and maintenance projects
* Manage and oversee civil contractors (roads & drainage)
* Coordinate council contracts and procurement processes
* Ensure projects are delivered within time, cost and quality constraints
* Undertake stockpile inspections and monitoring
* Provide leadership to operational staff and specialist providers
* Support line marking activities (internal & external resources)
* Positively engage with customers to resolve service issues
Night and weekend shifts may be required in line with operational needs.
What We're Looking For
* Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Civil Construction, Construction Management or significant industry experience
* Demonstrated experience managing civil contractors
* Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, engineering reports and specifications
* Proven project delivery experience across time, cost and quality constraints
* Workcover General Construction Induction (White Card)
* Current Class C Driver's Licence
