About us:
The Prison Mental Health Service is responsible for the delivery of mental health services to offenders in the Capricornia Correctional Centre (CCC) and Capricornia Correctional Farm (CCF). There is a fluctuating population of up to 1050 male offenders within CCC and CCF. Offenders can access appropriate mental health care equivalent to the standards of the general community. The Prison Mental Health Service incorporates a multidisciplinary team providing services from the time the Offender enters the system, through transfers to other facilities, through to their release into the community. We work in collaboration with the offender health team to promote the overall health and wellbeing of offenders in general.
About the role:
Participate in community development aimed at building community capacity for self-determination in health.
Facilitate access to specialist mental health services through the provision of culturally specific education, support and liaison with the clinical team.
Develop and deliver a range of prevention, early intervention, health education and health promotion services to individuals, families and community groups in accordance with the primary health care principles of social justice, access, equity and community participation.
Collaborate, consult and liaise with the community, non-government organisations and government agencies in the planning and development of integrated health services and programs.
About you:
Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care is mandatory for this position.
Under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community.

What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $121,350 p.a. is comprised of:
An hourly rate between $39.00 - $53.64 p.h.
