About TAQWA

The Queensland Charity and Welfare Association (TAQWA) is a community-driven organisation that represents and serves Australian Palestinian, Muslim, and Arab communities, with a specific focus on new arrivals to Queensland from Gaza. Our leadership and core team are predominantly composed of Australian Palestinians, allowing us to advocate effectively for the unique needs and aspirations of Palestinians arriving from Gaza to Australia.


Key Responsibilities:

* Lead a vital community-driven initiative supporting newly arrived Palestinian families from Gaza as they rebuild their lives in Queensland.
* Deliver a holistic support program strengthening social cohesion, fostering resilience, and building community connection.
* Work closely with families, community leaders, and partner organisations to ensure families feel supported and empowered as they navigate their new environment.


Requirements:

* Natural relationship-builder with cultural awareness and emotional intelligence.
* Able to work independently while holding a strong sense of purpose and accountability.
* Arabic fluency and lived experience working with (or within) Palestinian or Muslim communities highly regarded.
