About the Role
The Maternity Unit Manager provides strong clinical and management leadership to the ward, ensuring the delivery of safe, efficient and high-quality midwifery care in line with contemporary best practice and Mid North Coast Local Health District policies and procedures.
The position leads, directs and coordinates patient care at the unit level, ensuring standards of care are consistently met while promoting patient safety, clinical quality and innovation. This role is also responsible for the effective management of human, physical and financial resources, working collaboratively with relevant subject matter experts to deliver optimal health outcomes within available resources. It actively contributes to problem solving, performance improvement initiatives and business management activities across NSW Health. Practice is aligned with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia's professional standards, NSW Health Code of Conduct and CORE values, fostering a safe environment and a culture of continuous quality improvement.
This is a Full Time Permanent position based at Port Macquarie Base Hospital.
About You
You are a Registered Midwife with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, bringing high level operational and clinical management expertise within a relevant healthcare setting and can demonstrate strong capability in coordinating unit and service activities, ensuring the effective management of human, physical and financial resources to deliver safe, efficient and high quality care within a defined budget.
You are an effective and inspiring leader, able to lead and support a nursing team within a multidisciplinary environment while fostering collaboration, accountability and professional development can you possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, strong computer literacy across a range of applications, and a proven ability to lead change using contemporary change management methodologies. You will also maintain a sound understanding of current and emerging issues impacting the nursing and midwifery profession.

The Port Macquarie Base Hospital is a 228-bed level five facility with a 24-hour Emergency Department and a range of specialist services including intensive care, cardiology, geriatric, rheumatology, stroke, respiratory, oncology, renal dialysis, general medicine, orthopaedic, urology, vascular, general surgery, mental health, paediatrics and obstetrics. Additional services include physiotherapy, dietetics, social work, occupational therapy, Aboriginal health and Acute Pain Service. Diagnostic services include pathology, CT scans, nuclear medicine, MRI, ultrasound and general x-ray.
