Job Description:
The South West Aboriginal Medical Service is seeking a passionate Peer Support Worker to join our Social Services Team.
This role involves supporting peers to achieve a satisfactory and meaningful lifestyle through facilitating group activities and other key responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Facilitating semi-structured non-clinical group sessions
* Process and manage incoming referrals
* Provide transport as required
* Use your lived experience to positively influence the wellness and functioning of participants in the groups
* Carry out administrative duties including keeping records of groups facilitated and participation
* Ensure any risk is communicated through the correct channels
* Assist the coordinator and services to promote the program
* Fulfil organisational responsibilities such as attending peer group training, peer supervision, and professional development when required
* Be aware of, support, and promote occupational health and safety standards of the organisation
* Be always reliable and ethical
Selection Criteria:
* Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent under Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act
* Maintain the highest standards of ethics and professional conduct and treat all clients with dignity, integrity, and respect
* Current Driver's License
* Current National Federal Police Certificate and Working with Children Check, or ability to obtain
