It offers a range of general and specialist inpatient and outpatient services including emergency, general medicine and surgery, orthopaedics, clinical investigations, obstetrics and maternity care, gynaecology, high dependency and coronary care, palliative care, medical imaging, pathology, and paediatrics.The hospital aspires to develop level 4 clinical services and employs 282 full-time staff providing services across acute, planned, community, and primary care. A new Emergency Department was constructed in 2020, supporting 24/7 emergency care for the growing population. The ward block includes a 35-bed general medical and surgical ward, a four-bed High Dependency Unit, maternity ward, children’s ward, and nursery.As a General Medical Consultant, you will provide professional leadership to medical staff within the department and actively contribute to the multidisciplinary patient care team. You will work with the clinical team, director, and hospital to deliver clinical activities including 24/7 on-call duties, inpatient care, outpatient clinics, and support for the clinical measurement team for Exercise Stress Tests. The role also includes supporting Hospital in the Home (HITH) services for medical patients.RequirementsApplicants should be registered (or eligible for registration) as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia and be a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or an equivalent overseas-trained specialist who has completed training in the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA (ABIM certified), or New Zealand.The LocationThe Gladstone Region is the gateway to the Southern Great Barrier Reef.
