**The Opportunity**
As the Pastoral Care Worker, you will provide compassionate, competent, and respectful spiritual and emotional care in our residential aged care facilities. You will work in a supportive team environment in collaboration with our Pastoral Care Coordinator, pastoral care team, and multi-disciplinary teams. As a member of the care team, your primary focus is to ensure that the diverse emotional and spiritual needs of residents, their families, and staff are identified and responded to. This exciting opportunity is for a Full-time _or _Part-time role, providing onsite spiritual care within office hours on weekdays, making a difference to our growing community of 380+ residents.
- Responsibilities: _
- Providing person-centred spiritual care, ministering with compassion and empathy, listening, caring and supporting in whichever way is most beneficial to consumers and families.
- Documenting comprehensive information on pastoral care visits, spiritual assessments, interventions, outcomes, and care planning
- Using discernment and appropriate referral for more complex spiritual/religious needs and advocating when appropriate to connect a consumer with their chosen faith representative
- Working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the spiritual needs of consumers are met
- Supporting staff awareness to better recognise the pastoral/spiritual dimensions of the services that they provide to consumersEnsuring the consumer's rights, privacy, dignity and safety is maintained at all times
**About you**
- Essential: _
- One or more 400-hour Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) unit or equivalent, OR willingness to undertake within 12 months.
- Relevant theological/faith/spirituality education.
- Ability to assess, document, and administer a person-centred spiritual care plan
- Understanding of pastoral care issues relating to aged care.
- A genuine interest in older people and motivation to make a difference in their lives.
- Demonstrated empathy and affinity with older people and respect of their values and beliefs.
- Highly-developed communication skills and self-awareness.
- Highly-developed interpersonal skills with an emphasis on listening skills.
- Ability to work unsupervised and maintain professional boundaries.
Effective time management, prioritisation and organisational skills, and functional computer skills.
