**Position overview**
The Registrar Support Team Leader role is responsible for the daily oversight and management of CMs, LCMs and SJR Associates (collectively, registrar support staff) in the registries within their region, under a national management structure led by the Director - National Registrar Support.
Under the Courts' case management pathway, SJRs and JRs (collectively, registrars) undertake the majority of front-end case management and interlocutory work which was previously undertaken by judges. In addition, they perform a significant proportion of dispute resolution events to resolve proceedings. Registrar support staff provide direct, one-on-one support to registrars in the case management of their family law caseload. This includes supporting registrars working on various specialist lists across the Courts, including but not limited to, the Evatt list and the National Contravention List.
Registrar Support Team Leaders should be proactive, collaborative and possess great communication and leadership skills to ensure smooth and effective operations within their local registry and across the broader cohort. The successful applicant will:

Registrar Support Team Leaders will work closely with the National Coordinator - Registrar Support and the Director - National Registrar Support to determine day-to-day allocations and report on the ongoing performance and management of CMs, LCMs and SJR Associates within their respective region.
**Key responsibilities and duties**
Registrar Support Team Leaders are primarily responsible for ensuring there are sufficient resources in the registrar support space, to safeguard the effective and efficient handling of family law matters by registrars under the Courts' case management pathway.
Registrar Support Team Leaders will also have the following day-to-day responsibilities:
- Resourcing management and stakeholder engagement_
- Work with the Registrar Support Coordinators (RSCs) in their region to manage ad hoc leave coverage and temporary allocations which include locally based and remote support arrangements, with a focus on ensuring registrar-led court and chambers events are operationally viable and effectively run.
- Develop and maintain relationships with other Registrar Support Team Leaders nationally and work collaboratively to manage broader leave coverage and longer-term allocations, as and when they arise.
- Regular reporting and communication with the Director - National Registrar Support with respect to general team performance and culture, using data driven analysis where required.
- Be responsive to requests from external and internal stakeholders regarding registrar support and escalate to National Coordinator/Director as required.
- Management of local CMs, LCMs and SJR Associates_
- Conduct regular performance and wellbeing check-ins with each CM, LCM and SJR Associate in their local region, to monitor performance and enhance skill development.
- Understand the workload pressures of each individual chambers regionally, proactively anticipate the need for support and take initiative to arrange the additional resources.
- Approve all leave and timesheets, and manage probation periods for CMs, LCMs and SJR Associates regionally.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Court staff and respond efficiently to requests from internal stakeholders with respect to the management of registrar support staff in their region.
- Facilitate one-on-one training and professional development opportunities for CMs, LCMs and SJR Associates, both locally and nationally, in conjunction with other Registrar Support Team Leaders.
- Regularly report on the performance and suitability of local CM, LCM and SJR Associates to the Director - National Registrar Support, to inform potential future career opportunities within the Courts.
- Recruitment and training_
- Assist the Director - National Registrar Support and National Coordinator - Registrar Support with the recruitment, induction, on-boarding and training of new CMs, LCMs and SJR Associates nationally.
- Lead the induction, on-boarding and training of new CMs, LCMs and SJR Associates in their region and offer refresher training for existing registrar support staff, as required.
- Work with individual CMs, LCMs and SJR Associates to address any competency or training issues as instructed by the Director - National Registrar Support.
