+ Managerial Allowance + Superannuation & Salary Sacrifice Benefits Bedford Park SA, 5042 Full Time, Permanent Role About the role We are seeking a highly experienced and forward-thinking Laboratory Manager – Microbiology to lead and support a vital diagnostic service within SA Pathology's Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Directorate.
In this key leadership role, you will apply your scientific, technical, and professional expertise to ensure the delivery of timely, efficient, and customer-focused diagnostic services.
Your leadership will be central to maintaining operational excellence and service quality that supports improved patient outcomes across South Australia.
Working in close partnership with the Head of Department and Directorate Manager, you will play a key role in strategic planning, workforce management, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement.
You'll also contribute to the development and implementation of standardised procedures, quality frameworks, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
As a senior member of the team, you'll drive research and development initiatives, and actively support training and education programs within the department.
About You You are a highly experienced and strategic scientific leader with a passion for excellence in diagnostic microbiology and a strong commitment to quality, innovation, and team development.
Your expertise spans both technical and managerial domains, enabling you to drive service improvement and deliver high-performance outcomes in a complex laboratory environment.
Proven leadership and team management skills, with experience in staff coordination, recruitment, performance management, and fostering a high-performing team culture.
Extensive experience in diagnostic microbiology and infectious diseases, including quality assurance, data analysis, change management, and providing consultancy to senior stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, resolve conflict, and implement service enhancements aligned to directorate goals.
In-depth knowledge of regulatory, accreditation, WHS, and quality systems, combined with expertise in budgeting, public administration principles, and laboratory information systems.
