Primary objective
The Manager, Redress Coordination is responsible for the coordination and management of the NT Redress Coordination
Team (the Team) and provision of high-level policy advice in relation to the National Redress Scheme for Institutional Child
Sexual Abuse (the Scheme). The Team sits within the Crime Victims Services Unit (CVSU), and reports to the Director CVSU.
Context statement
The team is responsible for meeting the NT Governments’ obligations as an institution and participating jurisdiction. It also
provides client services through brokerage of counselling and psychological support, Direct Personal Responses (DPR) and
advocacy for survivors in the NT.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high level strategic and policy advice on the delivery of the Scheme and its operations in the NT, ensuring
operations remain trauma informed and focused on the needs of survivors.
2. Lead and supervise a team to administer the Scheme for the NT Government group of institutions within a work
setting that is sensitive to the risks of vicarious trauma.
3. Develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with the Commonwealth Scheme Operator, stakeholder groups, all
levels of government agencies and non-government organisations.
4. Manage complex and highly sensitive requests for information from the Scheme Operator, by overseeing the research
and assessment of information gathered from NT Group institutions within strict timeframes.
5. Coordinate the brokerage of accessible, high-quality counselling and psychological care services and direct personal
response apologies for eligible survivors.
6. Prepare and review high level strategic reports, briefings and correspondence, including Ministerial, LA Briefs, Cabinet
Submissions and business plans for the team.
7. Provide strategic and policy advice to the Director CVSU on survivors’ needs and trauma-informed principles in the
context of broader government proposals for legislative and systemic reform, as and when required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in the interpretation, application and administration of complex legislation.
2. Capacity to manage and coordinate a team in an workplace that oversees the organisation and assessment of
protected, complex and highly sensitive information with a demonstrated understanding of privacy principles.
3. High level oral, written communication and negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to influence, engage and manage
multiple stakeholders and to maximise organisational performance.
4. Demonstrated ability to provide strategic policy advice to stakeholders at all levels of government.
5. Well-developed ability to plan, program and coordinate workloads with changing priorities, high level problems solving
skills and the ability to use initiative.
6. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of financial management practices and processes
Desirable
1. Tertiary level qualifications in psychology, social work, human services, law or a related field.
2. Demonstrated experience of working with people who have experienced trauma and an understanding of the impacts of
child sexual abuse
