About The Role
The Sydney Local Health District has a long and proud history of delivering care in the community for young people including prevention, early intervention, assessment, treatment, health maintenance and continuing care services designed to improve and support the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
The SLHD Holistic Early Intervention Team (HEIT) supports young people with or at risk of severe mental health needs presenting to headspace to support access and transitions between services. HEIT provides multidisciplinary mental health services to young people who can be adequately supported in a primary care setting and require a mix of specialties, multi-agency approaches and/or interventions to meet their care needs. The HEIT service provides support across the SLHD, divided into two distinct Sectors. This role is offered within the Canterbury/Croydon catchment areas and co-located with Ashfield headspace.
As a Senior Allied Health Clinician within this service, you will deliver a high standard of clinical care for young people presenting to HEIT. Ensuring that young people have access to specialist mental health services as early as possible. It is funded to enhance the provision of clinical and consultancy services which facilitate greater integration SLHD Youth Mental Health Services and headspace, and improve pathways to care for young people who at risk of serious mental illness (severe depression or anxiety, major mood disorder, borderline personality disorder, disordered eating) who would not access usual mental health services and can be/are supported in primary care.
You will support integrated care between the LHD and headspace, providing clinical expertise in youth mental health and consultation within the multidisciplinary teams. You will work in a trauma-informed, evidenced based and culturally informed framework to deliver high quality youth focused mental health support, interventions and contribute to service development.
This position is an enhancement to an existing youth enhanced service as offers a great opportunity for an experienced Senior Allied Health Clinician to strengthen the youth services model offered within SLHD. It is initially offered until June 30 2026, with review as part of establishing this new component of service delivery.

This Will Include
Assessment and consultation of more complex youth mental health presentations, within the SLHD and headspace TeamsOutreach services to assertively engage and follow up young peopleCollaborative care co-ordination and targeted interventions for young people

Ideal Candidate
Extensive experience as an Occupational Therapist (including AHPRA registration) or as a Social Worker, with experience at Level 2 or higher.Demonstrated experience working with young people with complex needs including an understanding of current treatment approaches for people with emerging mental health problems, co-morbidity, and substance use problems.Current NSW Drivers Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
