Role overview
An experienced Environmental Consultant is needed to join our internationally recognised Environmental Approvals, Closure & Management (EAC&M) team as a Team Lead. Managing approximately ten consultants across our Brisbane, Mackay, and Townsville offices, the role offers flexibility to be based in any of those locations.
The position will lead and develop the team while contributing to the wider EAC&M team's growth. You will mentor team members, develop client relationships throughout the region, and collaborate on projects and initiatives with the national EAC&M Group and other SLR teams.
Responsibilities
Report to the QLD State Lead for EAC&M.
Assist in the development and implementation of team business plans and strategies with the QLD State Lead and APAC Technical Discipline Manager.
Build and maintain effective relationships with clients and internal SLR team members, particularly across other technical disciplines.
Oversee day-to-day team management, including timesheet approvals, workload and resource planning, and individual member management.
Manage team performance, conduct career development discussions, and provide coaching.
Offer advice on best-practice environmental impact assessment and management principles to clients and SLR staff.
Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects across various sectors.
Produce clear, precise, high-quality reports.
Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and the State Lead to review applications, interview candidates, and select new talent for the team.
Experience & qualifications
Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years' experience in environmental impact assessment and consulting.
Demonstrated ability to win work through business development and client management.
Experience managing multidisciplinary projects.
Strong knowledge of QLD & Commonwealth environmental legislation, policies, standards, and guidelines.
Prior experience in the mining, linear infrastructure, or power sectors is preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Australian citizenship or right to work in Australia.
Styling: proven people-management experience is highly regarded, but exceptional consultants ready to step into management will also be considered.
