The Chance
This opportunity is being offered as a 12-month non-ongoing contract with strong potential to extend or become permanent.
You will be working under managers who has had extensive experience in federal government and provide strong mentorship and career development opportunities for their team.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparation of monthly and annual financial statements
- Preparation of balance sheet, profit and loss statements
- Maintenance the fixed assets register and general ledger, including preparation of reconciliations
- Cash flow management including daily updates and forecasting
- Contributing to Audit and Risk Committee reporting including maintaining financial controls and positive liaison with external audit
- Developing technical accounting papers using discretion and initiative to interpret policy and applying the Australian Accounting Standards to the Agency’s transactions and balances
- Performing research and analysis in the preparation of journals
The Ideal Person
You will be a high-performing Financial Accountant, CA/CPA qualified, with a solid understanding of government accounting frameworks. This role requires someone who can hit the ground running and quickly adapt to the work requirements. It may also suit an external auditor looking to transition across to the other side of the desk.
You will hold a degree and CA/CPA qualifications, be recognised for your strong analytical skills, and be a forward-thinking professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills. You are likely the “go-to” person in your organisation for solving problems and identifying process improvements to drive efficiencies.

Salary / Rate
- $95k - $110k + Super
