Stantec's Environment & Geosciences business operates across the Asia Pacific region delivering sustainable solutions in a range of disciplines including Geotechnical Engineering, Contaminated Land Management, Environmental Approvals and Post-Approvals; Environmental Compliance and Management Systems, Aquatic and Terrestrial Ecology and Sustainability.
Our Geosciences team is known for delivering high-quality geotechnical engineering services, underpinned by advanced investigation methods and practical, solutions-focused analysis. As we continue to grow, we have an exciting opportunity for an intermediate Geotechnical Engineer / Engineering Geologist to join our Perth office and contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects ranging from urban infrastructure through to large-scale mining developments.
This role is ideal for someone looking to build on their technical foundations, take on increasing responsibility, and work towards leading projects. You'll be supported by experienced leaders, gain exposure to a wide variety of projects, and play an active role in project delivery and client engagement – all within a flexible and collaborative environment with a small company feel, that supports your ongoing career development.
Day to day tasks
* Supporting and assisting small to large scale geotechnical investigations, comprising drilling, test pitting, CPT programs and geophysical surveys across WA and beyond.
* Undertaking site inspections for geological mapping, investigation optimisation, material assessment, and geotechnical support during construction.
* Undertaking desk based geotechnical and geological assessments.
* Performing geotechnical analysis with mentoring from senior staff, and contributing to design work for slopes, pavements, landfills, dams, foundations, retaining walls, and other structures.
* Preparing technical reports and supporting proposal development to meet client expectations and deadlines.
* Collaborating within multidisciplinary teams including engineers, geologists, hydrogeologists, geotechnicians, and environmental scientists.
* Supporting junior team members and contributing to a positive and collaborative team culture.
* Assisting with client engagement and contributing to business development activities as your experience grows.
* Supporting project delivery to ensure outcomes align with quality, budget, and schedule requirements.
To be successful for this role you'll need
* Tertiary qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Geology.
* Approximately 2–5 years' experience in geotechnical investigations and analysis.
* Exposure to project coordination and client interaction (with support from senior staff).
* A willingness to learn, develop technical capability, and grow into a project leadership role over time.
* Strong communication and report writing skills.
* A level of commercial awareness and an interest in broader project delivery.
* A current driver's licence and willingness to travel to remote locations.
* Experience in Contaminated Land investigations and sampling programs would be highly regarded.
Physical Requirements
This role involves both office and field work. Applicants must be physically capable of working in remote field environments for extended periods.
