Overview
HDR Architecture– Sydney studio is seeking a Mid-Level Interior Designer with strong technical documentation skills and an eye for detail to join our Sydney studio. We support key sectors including Federal (Defence), Education & Science, Tech/Media/Telecom (Data Centres) and Healthcare, and welcome designers who thrive in a collaborative environment and are passionate about design excellence.
Permanent role available in Sydney.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate across project teams and disciplines to develop creative, practical design concepts and solutions aligned with project goals.
- Prepare, present, and document interior design concepts from programming through construction administration.
- Participate in design reviews with a strong focus on detail and quality.
- Work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment; open to mentoring and being mentored.
- Advocate for design excellence and contribute to the studio’s creative culture.
- Engage in networking and business development opportunities to help grow HDR’s client base and impact.
- Support and promote HDR’s brand within project teams, with clients, and in the broader industry.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or closely related discipline.
- Typically 3–6 years of experience in interior design and architectural documentation.
- Strong technical skills and solid understanding of interior design documentation workflows.
- Proficiency in Revit (required); Rhino and Grasshopper are a plus.
- Experience in SketchUp & Enscape (required).
- Experience using Photoshop & InDesign (required).
- A collaborative mindset and proactive approach to challenges.
- A passion for HDR’s key sectors (Federal, Healthcare, Tech/Media/Telecom & Data, Education & Science).
- A proactive, adaptable working style and willingness to contribute across different sectors and project types.
- Australian Citizenship or Baseline/higher Australian Government Security Clearance, or eligibility to obtain (required). For eligibility, visit the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website.
