Interface Package Lead - Radio/FRMCS- Major Rail Project (Sydney)
We are partnering with a Tier 1 global rail organisation to appoint an experienced Interface Package Lead - Radio/FRMCS for a major rail project in Sydney. Reporting to the Engineering & Design Manager, you will lead the technical management and integration of radio and FRMCS interfaces across signalling, OCC, rolling stock, and communications teams, ensuring compliance with FRMCS, ETSI, 3GPP, and railway standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead radio and FRMCS interface strategy covering LTE/5G networks, spectrum, coverage, handover, QoS, and cybersecurity.
* Develop, review, and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Interface Requirement Specifications (IRS), and network architecture.
* Manage integration with signalling, OCC, passenger systems, rolling stock, and third-party communications.
* Act as the primary liaison for radio interface coordination across multidisciplinary teams.
* Manage risks, issues, and changes via formal interface management processes.
* Facilitate technical workshops, verification, validation, and safety assessments.
* Ensure compliance with railway safety and cybersecurity standards (EN 50128/29, IEC 62443).
* Oversee testing, commissioning, defect resolution, and operational readiness for radio interfaces.
* Lead and mentor the radio interface engineering team, fostering collaboration and technical excellence.
Selection Criteria
* Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Systems, Railway Engineering, or related field.
* 10+ years of experience in rail or critical infrastructure radio communications, including FRMCS and LTE/5G.
* Strong knowledge of FRMCS standards, radio network design, spectrum management, and railway communications protocols.
* Proven experience leading complex radio system interfaces with signalling, rolling stock, and OCC.
* Expertise in systems engineering, safety assurance, test planning, and configuration control.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and team leadership skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver in a fast-paced, complex project environment.
