Provides administrative support to clinicians and staff in an inpatient unit, serving as a liaison between patients, visitors, and healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform clerical duties to assist in the general administration of the floor or unit.
* Greet and interact professionally with patients, families, visitors, and coworkers.
* Receive, prioritize, organize, and manage information at the central nursing station.
* Schedule consultations, tests, procedures, and patient transports.
* Enter accurate information into electronic medical records.
* Contact ancillary service departments for equipment, services, and supplies.
* Use designated processes for identifying and facilitating repairs.
* Assist with payroll duties, staff scheduling, or supervision of unit secretaries.
Requirements
* High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
* Associate Degree preferred.
Certifications
* Unit Coordinator Certification from the National Association of Health Unit Coordinators, Inc. preferred.
Experience
* 2-3 years of administrative support experience required.
Skills
* Proficiency with office procedures and equipment.
* Proficiency in MS Office.
* Ability to proofread and edit documents.
* Effective time management skills.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Familiarity with medical terminology.
