The primary role of a Sample Preparation Specialist involves various key responsibilities including receiving and accurately logging field samples, ensuring proper storage within the laboratory's freezers.
Additionally, this position entails homogenizing samples using commercial blenders, assisting in the extraction process for subsequent analysis, preparing laboratory solutions and reagents as necessary, conducting calibration and maintenance of basic laboratory equipment, upholding a clean and organized sample preparation area, and adhering to safety protocols.
This includes strict adherence to chemical exposure management and safe handling of dry ice. The specialist must possess strong time management and organizational skills to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Effective communication skills are also essential for successful collaboration with peers and supervisors. Previous laboratory experience is advantageous but not a prerequisite.
Candidates must possess the physical fitness required to meet the demands of the position, including capability to lift light loads (up to 10 kg), maneuver trolleys, and perform repetitive tasks while standing for extended periods.
