CDC BUILD PTY LTD is a family-owned, design-and-construct commercial builder based in Cairns, delivering a wide range of commercial projects across Far North Queensland, including tilt-panel construction.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our team. This role suits someone with solid on-site construction experience who also enjoys the planning, coordination, compliance, and paperwork side of project delivery and wants to continue developing in this area.
About the Role
This is a primarily office-based role overseeing multiple live construction projects from pre-construction through to handover. You will work closely with directors, site supervisors, consultants, certifiers, and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered safely, compliantly, on time, and within budget.
From time to time, you may also assist with estimating and procurement.
Key Responsibilities
* Overall management and oversight of commercial construction projects
* Plan checks to ensure compliance with NCC and approved documentation
* Coordination with consulting structural engineers and certifiers
* Final plan reviews prior to construction commencement
* Problem solving with certifiers, consultants, and subcontractors
* Engagement with external authorities and agencies for compliance matters
* Subcontractor engagement, coordination, and performance management
* Leadership and management of supervisors and trades
* Program and schedule management, including regular updates
* Oversight of cost control, financial performance, and profitability
* Ensuring projects meet contractual requirements, timelines, and quality standards
Skills & Experience
* Strong on-site construction background
* Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
* Proven ability in work planning and use of construction programs / Gantt charts
* High level of organisation and attention to detail
* Ability to adapt to an ever-changing construction environment
* Strong communication skills (face-to-face, phone, video, and electronic)
* Demonstrated commitment to WHS and environmental compliance
Systems & Software
* Strong computer literacy essential
* Experience with, or willingness to learn, Wunderbuild
* Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
* Confident managing digital documentation, purchase orders, and cloud-based systems
Mandatory Requirements
* Certificate IV in Building and Construction
* QBCC Site Supervisor Licence, or ability to obtain both within a 6-month qualifying period
