Role details The Building, Engineering and Maintenance Services (BEMS) at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Refrigeration Mechanic to join their team on a permanent basis. Your opportunity The Building, Engineering and Maintenance Services (BEMS) Department is responsible to support the Mackay Hospital and Health Service (MHHS) facilitation of safe, effective, and sustainable healthcare services through the best practice delivery of: * Asset and critical infrastructure management functions and capability * Asset maintenance functions and capability * Minor works/project development and delivery The Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic will undertake work on domestic, commercial, and industrial Heating, Ventilation and Air-conditioning - Refrigeration (HVAC-R) systems including, planned preventive maintenance. Also, minor works projects as required in the construction and maintenance of buildings, plant and equipment that support the MHHS facilitation of safe, effective and sustainable healthcare services. About the Team The Building Engineering and Maintenance Services (BEMS) provides integral maintenance and engineering support for multiple facilities, across the Mackay Hospital & Health Service, to ensure relevant compliance to OH&S and all relevant AS/NZ standards. We provide a one point contact for all building and facility related information. The BEMS team comprises various qualifications, skills and occupations including professional, administrative, operational and trades staff. The trades provided by in-house staff include electrical, plumbing, carpentry and mechanical. Contractors are used to complement in-house trades staff to provide an efficient and effective service.
