Our client is a well established mine site camp construction and mine site camp management company that services mine sites predominately in Western Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory. They are currently seeking a Machine Operator to work for 6 to 12 months on a mine site accommodation and facility upgrade.
Project Time Frames & Working Rosters
The project is based in the Gold Fields where our client is upgrading and expanding site accommodation and facilities.
Project Duration: 3 to 6 months (Potential for additional work depending on projects)
FIFO Base: Out of Perth Airport
FIFO Rosters: 2&1 or 3&1
The Role
Due to the nature of the project we are seeking an experienced and versatile Machine Operator that is able to not only operate machinery but also carry out additional work responsibilities such as;
* Machine Operating – 70%
* Truck Driving – Water Carts & Side Tipper – 15%
* Trade Assisting 15%
The Role - Machinery & Work Functions
The main mobile plant you will be operating includes;
* Excavator – 5, 11 & 15 Ton
* Fork Lift
* Automatic Trucks – Water Cart & Side Tipper
The Machine Operating component of the work covers mainly civil and construction work mainly on Excavators and skid steers where some of the main tasks include;
* Trenching
* Digging Foundations
* Material Handling – Moving Building Materials
* Earth Works –Cut & Fill, Shaping & Compacting
* Site Clean Up – Removing rubble & debris
* Making access roads & pathways
* Demolition – removing buildings or structures & Sorting demolition rubble
Although not essential but desirable candidates that possess a MR or HR license is beneficial as you maybe tasked with operating either;
* Water Cart – Automatic
The Role – Trade Assisting
The successful candidate will on occasions be required to assist the construction team which are mainly carpenters and may include the following physical tasks;
* Wall Framing
* Roofing
* Flooring
* General Labouring
The Candidate
We are seeking candidates that has a minimum of two years experience in operating small to medium excavators and skid steers on civil or construction projects especially on mine sites or remote locations.
Our client has specially asked for an operator that has experience on tight construction projects as you maybe working close to buildings where having operating skills to a close tolerance is essential to avoid damaging buildings.
High on our list is an operator that is versatile and happy to occasionally conducting some physical work activities such as working as a TA or general labouring. This component of the work is required but not a large component of the job.
Candidates that possess a MR or HR license is an advantage (not essential) as from time to time you maybe asked to drive water carts or side tippers.
We will be targeting candidates that possess the following attributes;
* Have excellent English communication skills – verbal & written
* Be a team player that enjoys contributing to a shared goal
* Be highly organized and able to prioritize and manage numerous tasks at the same time
* Have a "pro-active" work attitude, possessing initiative and good problem-solving skills
* Be able to commit to at least 3 months work on a FIFO basis
* Live in the Perth Metro Area
As the project is located on a gold mine, candidates must be able to pass the onboarding requirements which include;
* Having a current Police Clearance / Check with no past criminal convictions
* Be able to pass a standard mine site physical
* Be able to pass regular drug & alcohol screens
* Be able to complete standard safety and site inductions
* Be familiar with mine site safety & carrying daily requirements such as Take 5's
