We work with high-end CNC machinery and industrial equipment across mining, manufacturing, and heavy industry throughout Australia.
Due to continued growth, Edge Engineering is seeking a motivated Apprentice Fitter Machinist to join our workshop team.
The Role
This is a practical, hands-on apprenticeship where you will learn the fundamentals of fitting and machining while working on complex mechanical systems and machinery. You will be supported by qualified tradespeople and supervisors throughout your apprenticeship, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and skill development.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with fitting, assembly, and disassembly of mechanical components and machinery
• Learn machining operations including turning, milling, drilling, and grinding
• Support machine repairs, rebuilds, and preventative maintenance tasks
• Assist with installations and commissioning of machinery (workshop and onsite)
• Learn to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Use hand tools, measuring equipment, and workshop machinery safely
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment
• Complete TAFE requirements and apprenticeship documentation
About You
• Genuine interest in mechanical trades and machinery
• Keen to learn, reliable, and hands-on
• Good mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Willingness to work in a workshop and onsite environments
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
• Commitment to completing a full apprenticeship
• Australian working rights and current driver's licence (or working towards)
Desirable (but not essential)
• Pre-apprenticeship in Engineering or Mechanical Trade
• Exposure to workshop environments or mechanical work
• Basic hand tool knowledge
