The role
The Contract Fencing and Livestock Hand is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of agricultural and rural fencing systems, including exclusion fencing and livestock husbandry. The position requires working under a supervisor, hands-on fieldwork, operation of heavy equipment, and knowledge of livestock behaviour and care. Work is primarily performed outdoors in varied rural terrain and weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
· Fencing Installation & Maintenance: Construct, repair, and maintain various types of fencing, including barbed wire, woven wire, high-tensile, electric, and wooden or steel post and rail.
· Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain skid steers, tractors, augers, post pounders, and trailers. Perform routine maintenance, fueling, and minor repairs on machinery and tools.
· Livestock Husbandry: Support movement and mustering, sorting, and loading/unloading of livestock as needed. Monitoring animal health and treat as directed.
· Remote weekday work is required, accommodation is provided.
Candidate requirements:
· Live locally to Goulburn
· Have a car license and own vehicle
· Some experience with hand and power tools
· Familiar with the Agricultural industry
Candidate preferences:
· Experience within the agricultural industry and livestock
· Experience with machinery
· Certification in Agriculture e.g. cert III/IV at TAFE
· Chemical certification
· White card
· Team building and/or leadership experience
