Why this role matters
The Doorways program provides person-centred care to community members experiencing financial or other hardships through emergency relief. Case management is provided at some sites to engage people through early intervention and address long-term disadvantages to break the cycle of poverty and alleviate hardship. Practitioners are strength-based and trauma-informed to build individual capacity, resilience, and wellbeing.
About the role
We seek a values-driven and proactive Doorways Assessor at our Katherine location. Reporting to the Regional Manager, this casual position offers a salary and conditions in accordance with the SCHADS Award, level 3.
You will successfully
* Establish relationships with clients that encourage self-determination, participation, and support them to improve their situation.
* Build effective work relationships with staff, clients, and stakeholders.
* Maintain regular communication with team members.
* Conduct interviews and assessments for emergency relief over the phone, following Doorways guidelines.
* Determine assistance in line with Doorways standards of practice.
* Assist community members to access support services via referral and advocacy.
* Support the local mission by collaborating with Corps.
Requisite Skills & Qualifications
* Experience in community services sector.
* Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds is beneficial.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
* Self-motivated with high initiative.
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
* Knowledge of Work Health Safety obligations and TSA policies.
* Experience with non-English speakers and knowledge of Aboriginal communities and culture.
* Proficiency in PC applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
