We embrace an open management structure that fosters a diverse, inclusive, and flexible workforce. Currently, we employ over 550 people across offices in NSW, ACT, QLD, and VIC. We are committed to supporting our employees' professional and personal growth, offering opportunities to build careers within a supportive environment.
The Role
Our Charlestown office offers an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Civil Drafter to join our Civil Team. You will work on stormwater, sewer, and road designs for urban development projects. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will receive extensive on-the-job training and mentoring, developing skills in the latest engineering technologies as part of our Trainee Draftsperson Program.
Successful applicants will undertake engineering studies at TAFE NSW, usually one day a week, as part of an industry-recognized traineeship. The remaining four days will be spent in the office. We offer a competitive salary and will cover all TAFE fees.
What is Drafting?
A Draftsperson produces engineering documents that tell a story about buildings, site preparations, installation procedures, materials, and products. These drawings enable builders to execute projects accurately and help bring clients' visions to life. If you are interested in drawing, computers, 3D documentation, animation, design, engineering, or construction, this career may be suitable for you.
The Candidate
If you have recently completed your School Certificate or HSC, or have started your Drafting course at TAFE, and are interested in pursuing a career in drafting, Northrop offers many opportunities for growth. We will support your career development and provide a nurturing environment.
As The Successful Candidate You Will Possess
* A passion for STEM subjects, particularly Technology and Engineering.
* Computer literacy with an interest in technical drawing; familiarity with AutoCAD is highly desirable.
* The ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Enthusiasm and passion for construction and engineering.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
