Critical to the role is a clinically orientated and organised approach with an eye for detail, extensive experience in analysis, research, and interpretation of genomic and other complex laboratory data outputs to deliver a comprehensive and meaningful clinical research report to the tumour board and treating clinicians. This role is vital in supporting the reporting of genomic findings for patients in a clinically relevant timeframe. It requires excellent teamwork, meticulous attention to detail and close adherence to deadlines so that patient test results can be provided in a timely manner.To succeed you will have…The equivalent of an MHGSA / FHGSA / RCPA FFSc Genetic Pathology / master’s or post graduate degree in molecular genetics, human medical genetics, or molecular / genetic pathology with a minimum of 2 years variant classification experienceExperience of NGS-based analysis of cancer and familiarity with one or more of the following: DNAsequencing (whole genome, whole exome, gene panel), whole transcriptome sequencing, circulating tumour DNAsequencingDemonstrated thoroughness, strong analytical skills, and an ability to understand, evaluate, and interpret published literature and clinical data to provide accurate, thorough, and thoughtful clinical interpretation of research results in a critical manner on a daily basis is requiredDemonstrated ability in providing accurate and timely genomic variant assessment from genomic data (both germline and somatic) derived from human clinical samples to provide accurate clinical interpretation of results in addition to training in sequencing technologies and familiarity with basic concepts of bioinformatics pipelines is required.Experience in data mining and organisation of data with a strong knowledge of oncology geneticsDemonstrated thorough and ongoing knowledge of current theories and principles of human medical genetics, cancer genetics, genetic cancer predisposition, and targeted therapiesHighly skilled in communications and must be capable of always maintaining a professional demeanourWe will support you to be your best with benefits that include but are not limited to:Focus on employee wellbeing, including up to 5 gifted wellbeing days off (paid) per yearAccess to fitness passport, with access to an extensive choice of fitness facilities across Sydney at discounted ratesCorporate discounts and discounts on education through UNSWNot for profit salary packaging / tax benefitsAdditional information about Children's Cancer Institute can be found on our website at: https://www.ccia.org.au/careers-studyWe make hiring decisions based on your experience, skills and passion, as well as how you can enhance Children’s Cancer Institute and our culture.
