The New England North West Acute Care Team (NENW ACT) provides intake and acute mental health care to communities across the New England North West region. Based in Tamworth, you'll join a dynamic, multidisciplinary team committed to delivering responsive, high-quality care to adults experiencing acute mental health needs.

About The Role
As a Mental Health Clinician, you will play a key role in delivering timely intake, acute intervention, and outreach support. Working alongside experienced clinicians, peer workers, and medical staff, you'll contribute to a service model that blends face-to-face and telehealth care to meet the diverse needs of our communities.
In This Position You Will
Provide comprehensive assessments, crisis intervention, and short-term acute care
Work within a progressive hybrid model of care (in-person and virtual)
Take on a senior clinical role, guiding and mentoring junior staff
Support broader NENW Health Services through inreach where required
Participate in a 7-day rotating roster designed to support work-life balance

About You
You are an experienced clinician with advanced clinical competence and strong professional integrity. You bring expert assessment skills, including the ability to conduct thorough mental state examinations, risk assessments, and complex clinical formulations that inform evidence-based interventions.
You are confident managing high-risk or ambiguous situations and apply relevant legislation - including the Mental Health Act - alongside ethical frameworks and clinical governance requirements.

Requirements
Applicants must hold qualifications in one of the following disciplines:
Occupational Therapy
Psychology or Clinical Psychology
Social Work
Nursing
Counselling (Bachelor of Health Science - Mental Health, Djirruwang Program)
This qualification must provide eligibility for membership with the relevant professional association and/or provisional or general registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
You Must Also
Hold a current driver's licence valid in NSW and be willing to travel for work purposes, including long distances when required

This position is full time; however, part time/job share arrangements may also be considered.
