ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The role of the Community Development Officer (CDO) is to strengthen the Palmerston community through the delivery of a range of innovative and diverse programs, projects and services across the municipality. The CDO acts as an important liaison between internal and external stakeholders and works collaboratively across the organisation to bring community development skills, knowledge, and expertise to Council.
This role actively contributes to the ongoing development and delivery of strategies and initiatives which are contemporary and relevant for our community.
ABOUT YOU
- Minimum Diploma level qualifications in Community Development or related discipline.
- lAP2 Certificate in Engagement is highly desirable.
- Minimum 3 years practical experience in working with children and families, including developing, implementing programs appropriate for the target group.
- Experience in designing and delivering community-based projects, preferably with exposure to vulnerable populations within communities.
- Demonstrated strong organisational and coordination skills.
- Proven experience in working in partnership with a range of stakeholders such as local, state and federal governments, non-government organisations, and the community.
- Well-developed interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills.
- Sound financial skills including budget management.
- Proven ability to develop high quality corporate documentation, including project briefs, complex reports, minutes, agendas.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and harmoniously within a team.
- Demonstrated computer literacy skills (Microsoft Office suite).
- A demonstrated understanding of appropriate and professional conduct within Local Government and ability to act responsibly when interacting with members of our community.
- Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as required for community programs.
