Associate Director, Event Marketing

About the role

The Associate Director, Event Marketing leads the planning and delivery of integrated marketing campaigns that promote major events across NSW. The role is responsible for driving awareness, audience engagement and visitation, ensuring campaigns support Destination NSW's strategic priorities and strengthen the state's reputation as a leading global events destination. Working across creative, media, digital and content channels, you will oversee end-to-end campaign delivery,ensuring activity is focused and results-driven

The Associate Director, Event Marketing leads a team of marketing professionals and works closely with internal teams, government agencies and external partners, including event organisers and media agencies. As part of the role you will also oversee campaign performance tracking and reporting, using data and insights to inform future planning and demonstrate value.

Spearheading a whole-of-government approach to visitor economy growth, Destination NSW influences and shapes the visitor economy through strategic research, policy and thought leadership, stakeholder engagement and consultation, commercial partnerships and investment in visitor experiences, business support, marketing and events. Destination NSW is also the major investor in Business Events Sydney (BESydney) for the purpose of securing more international and domestic conventions, incentive travel reward programs, corporate events and exhibitions.

About You

You are an experienced marketing leader with a strong track record of planning and delivering integrated campaigns, ideally within events, tourism or a related sector. You are confident managing end-to-end campaign activity across creative, media and digital channels, and you use data and insights to assess performance and refine your approach. You are comfortable working in a public sector environment, balancing creativity with accountability and ensuring compliance with procurement and communications requirements.

You'll build strong, collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, from government agencies to event organisers and media partners, balancing differing expectations while keeping strategic objectives in focus. You'll communicate clearly with senior leaders, clearly and confidently offering concise advice. As a people leader, you'll support and develop your team, foster fresh ideas and respond thoughtfully to changing market conditions and audience behaviours.
