**THE COMPANY**
Our client is a successful poultry growing farm based in Anakie, Geelong, Victoria.
They currently have a network of 8 farms, with each farm responsible for raising 400,000 birds. The farms contain the world's best in class DACS heating and ventilation systems, new house, a significant workshop and all equipment necessary for the efficient operations of the farms.
The farms are completely off grid and environmentally sustainable. Additionally, our client is in the process of building the one of the world's first bio-gas plants using poultry by-products.

To meet this growing demand, our client requires an experienced Farm Manager ensure that optimum living and welfare conditions for poultry livestock are maintained.
**KEY ACTIVITIES**
Responsibilities will include:
- Ensure that the sheds and farm surrounds are always clean and well maintained
- Ensure that the sheds are properly prepared ready to receive each batch of chickens
- Ensure that the birds always have sufficient quality and quantity of water and feed supply (including calculating feed requirements and placing orders with the feed mill for the timely delivery of feed);
- Manage ordering of gas and other fuels (as applicable based on farm specific heating systems) to properly heat sheds and maintain temperature and humidity setpoints
- Manage nutrition and feed formulations
- Monitor shed control systems and equipment operations to ensure that temperature, humidity and other air quality environment setpoints are maintained for the optimal welfare, growth and FCR performance of the chickens
- Respond to shed systems alarms and addressing underlying problems promptly
- Undertake, or manage subcontractors if applicable, all maintenance of shed equipment, generators, pumps, heating systems, shed and ancillary buildings and farm machinery promptly
- Undertake all daily, weekly and batch operating and performance reporting as required
- Manage farm crews, or subcontractors if applicable, in the timely litter removal, shed washing, farm sanitation and bedding spreading following the completion of a batch
- Ensure that all employees, subcontractors and visitors strictly comply with the company's occupational health and safety policies and procedures as outlined from time to time
- Ensure strict adherence to the company biosecurity policies and procedures as outlined from time to time

**WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?**
In order to be successful in this role you will require:
- Tertiary qualification in agriculture, farming, poultry or similar
- Previous experience 10+ years in a livestock farming role
- Strong working knowledge of biosecurity, ventilation, and animal welfare standards for maintaining livestock.
- Excellent time management skills
- Previous and demonstratable experience managing, supervising and coordinating a small team of employees and subcontractors
- Experience in the use of farming machinery including tractors, bobcats, telehandlers.
- HC license preferred.
- Basic to good admin and computer skills using word and excel.
- Fully vaccinated against Covid-19 (minimum 2 shots)
- A valid driver's license.
- Physically fit
