Infrastructure Canberra (iCBR) was established to lead the procurement and delivery of the ACT Government’s infrastructure program. Our vision is to deliver infrastructure that supports a vibrant, inclusive, and sustainable Canberra - one of the world’s most liveable cities. iCBR operates across three core areas: Major Projects Delivery: Leading the procurement and delivery of infrastructure projects designated by the ACT Government as ‘major projects,’ typically characterised by their scale and complexity. Whole-of-Government Infrastructure Delivery: Partnering with other Directorates to deliver a wide range of infrastructure projects across government. Property Services Operations and Housing (PSO): Providing expert property management and maintenance services to ACT Government agencies and the broader community. The PSO team comprises qualified trades professionals and works closely with accredited contractors to deliver high-quality maintenance and property services. PSO Trades Teams Include: Fields Maintenance General Services Officers Carpenters Plumbers Electricians Locksmiths Fitters HVAC Technicians The Role This position supports the Fields Maintenance Team Supervisor in coordinating and overseeing the Fields Maintenance team. The team is responsible for general maintenance of ACT Government-owned and managed properties, installation and removal of flags and banners, and upkeep of non-building assets such as landscaping, fountains, and memorials. This is a dual-role position, combining hands-on fieldwork with team leadership responsibilities. This is a permanent opportunity with Property Services Operations. This position has access to Accrued Days off (ADO’s), over time and on call. Hours of duty (normal business hours) from 7.15am to 4.15pm. Property Services Operations is based out of 255 Canberra Avenue Fyshwick ACT Key Responsibilities Work Delegation : Determine scope, priorities, equipment, and personnel for each task in consultation with the team and the Fields Maintenance Team Supervisor. Administration : Ensure all work orders are completed accurately. Prioritise and ensure staff complete ‘Take 5’ safety checks and Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) before commencing any work. Workshop and Plant Oversight : Conduct monthly vehicle and plant checks. Maintain WHS compliance and stock levels in the flag room, landscape shed, and chemical shed. Quoting : Attend sites, liaise with tenants, and prepare quotes for required works. Overtime Management : Allocate overtime fairly and ethically among team members. Conflict Resolution : Address interpersonal issues within the team, escalating when necessary. Training & Safety : Ensure team members are trained, competent, and compliant with all safety protocols. Other Duties : Perform additional tasks as directed by the Fields Maintenance Team Supervisor or the Director of Property Services Operations. Eligibility/Other Requirements: Essential Current valid Driver's License (Class C) Hold or have the capacity to obtain White Card, Asbestos Awareness and Working with Asbestos certification Hold or have the capacity to obtain Silica Awareness certificate/card Highly Desirable Trade qualifications in building or related fields. Hold, or have the ability to obtain: Medium Rigid (MR) Truck Licence, Elevated Work Platform (EWP) Licence (including over 11m), Working at Heights training/ticket, Confined Space training/ticket, ChemCert certification, Test and Tag certification, Forklift Licence, Sharps handling training, Chainsaw Operator's License, Traffic Control certification, De-escalation training.
