An opportunity is available for an experienced Credit Officer to join a collaborative finance team. This role is responsible for end-to-end credit management, proactively monitoring outstanding debts, managing risk and maintaining strong internal and external stakeholder relationships to ensure DSO and aged debt targets are achieved.
The Credit Officer will play a key role in customer onboarding, credit assessments, order hold management, cash collection and customer master data maintenance. Strong communication, teamwork and attention to detail are critical to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
* Proactively monitor outstanding debts and contact all customers with balances over 30 days within the month
* Maintain detailed and accurate diary notes for all customer interactions
* Conduct daily risk analysis, including recommendations for credit holds, credit limit adjustments, and legal action where required
* Review and action order holds daily to minimise disruption to operations
* Perform account reconciliations and assist with cash flow projections
* Monitor and escalate requests for credit term extensions as appropriate
* Achieve cash collection, overdue debt reduction, and DSO targets
* Identify, allocate, and reconcile customer payments on a daily basis
* Review new customer account applications, including credit checks and PPSR searches
* Manage Customer Master Data, including new account setup and ongoing maintenance
* Assist with team coverage during annual leave or unforeseen absences
* Actively participate in monthly one-on-one reviews to assess debtor performance and progress
* Contribute to team projects and continuous improvement initiatives
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in a Credit Officer or Accounts Receivable role
* Strong understanding of credit risk management and debt collection processes
* Solid knowledge of basic bookkeeping principles
* Strong computer skills, including Excel and Accounts Receivable systems
* Ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
* Strong communication and negotiation skills
* Experience working cross-functionally with accounting, customer service, production and sales teams
* Experience within the Manufacturing or FMCG industry will be highly regarded.
