As the Head of Building Design and Construction, you'll lead a high‐performing team to deliver exceptional building projects that enhance Casey's growing community. Overseeing the design and construction elements of the Capital Works Program, you'll provide strategic leadership, technical expertise, and drive continuous improvement.
You'll collaborate with stakeholders across Council and beyond, contribute to long‐term infrastructure planning, and play a key role in ensuring sustainable, innovative, and high‐quality community assets.
What You'll deliver
* As a member of the Casey Leadership Team (CLT), work in a customer focused and collaborative way to provide contemporary leadership and build strong positive relationships across Council.
* Provide direction, role clarity and coaching, ensuring team members have clear work objectives, regular reviews and feedback, and are positively engaged in the performance review process.
* Lead, drive and execute the delivery of service objectives, including financial, quality and time related targets for programs and major projects.
* Act within established operational and budgetary guidelines, Council policies and the provisions of relevant Acts, Regulations, Codes as contained in the Instrument of Delegation.
* Oversee the design and delivery of the capital works building program and projects.
* Proactively deliver the capital works program including readiness check and development and implementation of project delivery plans for buildings and facilities.
* Perform the role of contract Superintendent as both certifier and agent for Building Construction contracts as appointed by the principal.
What you'll bring
* Degree in Architecture, Building, Project Management, or relevant discipline with strong leadership experience in capital works delivery.
* Proven track record in delivering building infrastructure projects on time, within quality standards and budget, ideally in local government or similar environments.
* Sound knowledge of project management methodologies, contract administration, and contractor management.
* Experience acting as Superintendent on construction projects, ensuring compliance and quality control.
* Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills with a customer-focused approach.
* Demonstrated leadership ability to engage and motivate teams, fostering collaboration to achieve high-quality community outcomes.
* Willingness to undergo pre‐employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check & Psychometric Testing.
