The Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) is the national peak body representing all pharmacists across the country. As part of this journey, PSA is acquiring the Australasian College of Pharmacy (ACP), unifying and enhancing the pharmacy education landscape and reinforcing PSA’s position as the leading provider of pharmacist education and professional development in Australia. About the Role

As the Head of Business Operations, you’ll be a key member of PSA’s evolving Executive Leadership Team, helping shape the organisation's next chapter of growth, impact, and transformation.

Reporting directly to the CEO, this role provides strategic leadership and operational oversight across PSA’s key corporate and organisational functions, including People & Culture, Internal Communications, Strategic Brand, Marketing & Communications, Strategy & projects, Risk, and Company Secretariat.

This is a pivotal executive role, responsible for ensuring PSA operates as a cohesive high-performing and values-driven organisation that enables our people and culture to thrive, strengthens our reputation and brand, and drives the execution of our strategic plan. The position also oversees organisational risk and governance frameworks to ensure compliance, accountability, and operational excellence across PSA’s national footprint.

Critically, this position also serves as Chief Risk Officer and Chief Privacy Officer, providing enterprise-wide risk oversight, governance, and privacy leadership.

In the role, you will

- Lead the delivery of business operations initiatives aligned with PSA’s strategic goals.
- Lead the design and implementation of holistic people strategies to attract, engage, develop, and retain high-performing talent.
- Drive change management initiatives to enable organisational agility, resilience, and adoption of strategic priorities.
- Build and embed a values-driven organisational culture centred on trust, inclusion, accountability, and recognition.
- Ensure compliance with industrial relations, employment law, and workplace health and safety legislation.
- Serve as a role model of transformational leadership, inspiring engagement and high performance.
- Lead transparent, timely, and impactful internal communications to foster engagement, alignment, and a sense of belonging.
- Strengthen PSA’s employer brand and internal identity through storytelling that reflects organisational culture and values.
- Drive brand strategy to position PSA as the voice of Australia’s pharmacists and a trusted industry leader.
- Oversee national marketing, media, and digital communications to promote PSA’s advocacy, education, and membership offerings.
- Lead corporate strategy development, execution, and performance monitoring.
- Oversee cross-organisational projects to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and operational outcomes.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate operational, financial, reputational, and strategic risks across PSA.
- Serve as Chief Privacy Officer, ensuring PSA meets privacy obligations under Australian privacy laws and industry standards.
- Oversee the Company Secretariat function to support the CEO and Board in governance and compliance matters.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Business Services team to deliver high performance, collaboration and accountability.
- Contribute to executive decision-making, strategic planning, and organisational transformation.

About You

You’re a proven senior leader with extensive experience in business operations, people, communications, or strategy functions, ideally within health, pharmacy, or not-for-profit sectors. You combine strategic vision with strong operational and commercial acumen and are passionate about leading teams to deliver measurable, lasting impact.

You’ll also bring

- Demonstrated success in executive or senior leadership roles in business operations, people, communications, or strategy functions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams in a complex, national environment.
- Strong understanding of corporate governance, risk, and compliance frameworks.
- Deep experience in organisational strategy, culture transformation, and change leadership.
- Exceptional interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills.
- Experience managing brand, marketing, or corporate communications portfolios.
- Demonstrated financial and business acumen, including budget management and performance reporting.
- Strong project management capability, with the ability to deliver results under pressure.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Management, HR, or a related discipline.
- A values-led approach and commitment to innovation, inclusion, and excellence.
- Experience in a member-based or not-for-profit organisation.
- Knowledge of the Australian healthcare or pharmacy sector.
